Tammy’s ordeal started just over six months ago. The Edmonton mother of twins was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in August 2014. She completed four rounds of chemotherapy while waiting for a matching stem cell donor to be found. As family members were not a suitable match, information was registered on the “Canadian Blood Service’s OneMatch Program” database and a worldwide search was on. A suitable match was found in December 2014, and its wonderful news to know the stem cell transplant is done and Tammy’s health is now improving.
